Anyone who wishes to deposit their Last Will and Testament with the Genesee County Probate Court may do so for $25.00.

Wills for Safekeeping are not public records. The Genesee County Probate Court keeps them sealed until they are withdrawn or proof of death is received.

Wills for Safekeeping may not be viewed or copied. The individual in which the will belongs may withdraw it, by presenting proper photo ID, if the individual no longer wishes to have the will on deposit with the Court. If the individual wishes to withdraw their will and deposit a new will, the cost is $25.00.

Once the Genesee County Probate Court receives proof of death for an individual who has a will deposited for safekeeping, it will become public.
